Baking Class

I will run another Baking Class on the 2nd March 2013. This is in response to many people asking when the next class will be. We shall as usual cover Sourdough bread making. This includes making your own starter and preserving it. The class will be from 09:00 till 16:00 aprox. Lunch included.

The cost will be RM 500 and includes all materials and a book on Sourdough. Those interested please contact me at baker@whitebrickoven.com to reserve a place which is restricted to eight places. A deposit of 100 RM will be requested.

Since my return from the UK I have been a bit quiet as I have been quite busy with baking, some re-organisation of my workroom and spring (xmas) cleaning.

I have also been making pastries from both puff and shortcrust pastry. These can be quite good to make for a family as they freeze well and only need to be re-heated to provide a treat for those unexpected guests or of course the family.

We now have 4 cats. Three of them are newcomers, the other we have had for many years. She does not get on with the newcomers who were given to us by one of Mardia’s friends. They are quite friendly but as they are still young, they can be a bit troublesome at times. I guess the older one cannot stand the antics of the young ones and prefers to be left alone.

Some people have expressed a problem with finding our bread at Jasons, Bangsar. We have now been asked to provide a name sticker that the Jason staff adhere to the bread wrapper when displaying the bread. Hopefully this will make it easier. We grind daily nearly all of our flours here in a stone mill from Organic Grains from Australia. We do not employ or use any preservatives or additives like fat and sugar to soften the bread.

We wish everyone a properous and happy New Year.
